Types of Boom Lifts or Construction Lifts
A boom lift is a piece of machine that allows personnel to carry out tasks without having to build a scaffolding. They are used to do maintenance work, to work on elevated structures and are common machines found in warehouse and factory environment also.
Usually, construction lifts provide powered and wheeled bases that are capable of driving to the work location and have a platform on them which is responsible for elevating employees. There are many various types of lifts and every one is suitable to different kinds of tasks and settings.
Bucket Trucks
Bucket trucks, which are usually called "cherry-pickers", carry a long boom that has a bucket attached at the end. This bucket area is where a worker can stand. Commonly, bucket trucks are used by utility workers and by landscapers. Landscapers usually use these equipment to cut trees.
Bucket trucks are equipped with a boom assembly which is mounted on a regular truck, and this means these lifts could travel on roads at normal traffic speeds. This mobility greatly increases the area they could effectively service. This is especially important for power companies. Like for instance, a lot of these companies utilize cherry pickers to elevate employees up so they can reach and work on transmission lines. The buckets need to be checked regularly and correctly insulated since they are working near potential shock hazards.
Articulated booms lifts or knuckle lifts have a work platform mounted to an arm which could bend and reach obstacles. The base of the lift includes a turntable and is capable of turning the lift in a complete circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels as well for extra mobility.
Usually, the articulated boom lift is used for landscaping projects but is also useful for maintenance work on projects that are already finished. Projects that do not need easy access right beneath the jobsite. These lifts can be utilized for exterior electrical work and to repair piping, and areas that are difficult to clean. Often knuckle lifts are driven by the employee in the platform with the boom extended.
