The forklift is an essential piece of equipment in most companies that operate warehouses, distribution centers, storage handling and industrial plants. This wonder machinery, the lift truck is constructed of many components, like the essential carriage, the power source, the engine and the wheels. Lift trucks generally have different kinds of attachments as well. The following are some of the most essential components of a lift truck.
Forklift Engine - At the back of the machinery, the forklift has its power source. The various kinds of engine on the forklift would need varying power sources. For example, a lift truck with an internal combustion engine can have as its power source any of the following: LP gas, CNG gas, diesel or gasoline. Electric motor lift trucks receive their power from fuel cells or a battery.
Frame of The Truck - the base of the forklift truck and the most vital of all the forklift parts is the frame of the truck. This forms the equipment's core. All other components of a lift truck are attached to the base, like the overhead guard, counterweight, wheels, axles and mast. Hydraulic fluid and fuel tanks can be part of the frame assembly also.
Counterweight Forklift Components - While carrying heavy loads, the counterweight allows the equipment to be balanced. This specific part is cast iron and comes attached to the back of the forklift. The counterbalance balances the frame of the truck so as to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being lifted or carried on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric lift truck gives balance and can function as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - this area is where the operator sits and drives the equipment. Some lift trucks have a cab area which is open to the air and several have closed cabs. There are really a lot of components located within the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such important components like for example the levers, switches, steering wheel, operator controls, pedals and seats. The dashboard has operator readouts.
