Reach Truck
In order to keep storage areas orderly and to pile up supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck can be used. The reach truck comes in several models: the stand-up reach, double-deep reach and straddle reach.
The simplest type is the stand-up. The forks of the truck slide underneath the pallet and move it to the right storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are just one pallet deep.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This particular model consists of telescopic forks intended to place the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet needs to go into the same shelving section.
The additional advantage of straddle reaches is that they can both slide beneath the pallet and grasp the sides also. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in multiple directions. This particular model is best in situations where goods would not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Within nearly all warehouses, there are usually more than one type of reach truck. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities use different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to operate and can increase production while making the most of available storage space.
